Chieko Poems in Transference

 Very happy to have more translations of the Chieko Poems published in Transference, Western Michigan University's journal of poetry translation.

That first poem perfectly captures the yearning, the fire within reflected in the surrounding nature. Even though they are side by side, there is the future ‘more’ that drives the poet to his intoxication. The poem is not erotic, but it quietly smolders, and seems modern and daring for its time. A lovely translation of a poet whose work I’d like to know better, especially after reading the informative annotations. Thanks for this.
